Joanna de Angelis expressed “the act of wanting (desiring for oneself, expressing attachment) is the foreshadowing cause of loss… responsible for anxiety, insecurity and fear.” Let’s learn from Joanna and the Spiritist teachings how to develop skills of detachment, expressed in altruism and charity since early age to adulthood.
Aug 19 – Special Talk: Escape Mechanisms of the Ego

The Ego is an inherent component—loosely speaking—of our spiritual core, the Essence. Primordial, antecedent to the Self, the Ego had a pivotal role in bringing forth our sense of identification. However, with the latter achieved, the Self must now evolve beyond its dormant stage in the Essence’s journey of identification with the Cosmic Conscience, and ultimately with God. Unfortunately, this does not happen without inner struggles of great magnitude because the Ego holds us in the past through mechanisms of identification with “perceived realities,” anchored to atavisms. In this lecture, we address five escape mechanisms of the Ego—namely Compensation, Shifting, Projection, Introjection, and Justification—and we evaluate pragmatic spiritist approaches to deconstruct these mechanisms in order to free our Self from within, towards the awaiting path to plenitude.
