Apr 06 – The Power of the Word

“In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” – John 1:1. Marcelo will combine his journalism knowledge with the Spiritist teachings to explain how words can be used as a powerful tool in our daily life.
Apr 11 (Thurs.) – Madness and Obsession – Spiritist Approach of Mental Diseases. @ 7 pm
– Sérgio Thiesen, MD (Guest Speaker)
Dr. Thiesen will discuss the relationship of mental diseases and spirit obsession and how one can take advantage of the Spiritist teaching to mitigate the negative influence in cases of obsession and madness.

How does Spiritism view the events of passion, crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus, and most of all, the traditional celebration of Easter? Mr. Alves will discuss this topic under the light of Spiritism. Come and Join us!
Apr 27 – Plenitude – Chap 6 – Altruism

Leo will continue the study series of the book “Plenitude” by the spirit Joanna de Angelis / Divaldo Franco. In this session, he will talk about Altruism.
This talk will be followed by Light Dinner Fundraiser (Soup, Salad, Fruits and Sandwiches…) Price: $20/adult $10 kids.

Bios
Marcelo Medeiros is a journalist and works as a producer for a Brazilian TV Network. He was raised in a Catholic family and joined Spiritism in the 2000s. He has been a practitioner at Inner Enlightenment Spiritist Society – NY (IESS-NY) for 7 years and assists on all IESS’s media communications.
Dr. Sergio Thiesen is a Cardiologist, Physicist, and a Professor at the Brazilian National Institute of Cardiology in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Founder and President of the “Sociedade Espirita Reencontro” and “Grupo Espirita Francisco de Assis”. Dr. Thiesen has traveled more than 25 countries giving Spiritist talks.
Alex Alves was raised in a Spiritist family, in Brazil, and he has been reading and studying spiritism since the 1980s, but he only started to be active in Spiritist activities in the early 90’s. In 2001, he moved to USA and, currently, he coordinates the English program at the Plenitude Spiritist Society in Kissimmee, Florida.
