“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45), said our Master Jesus. Also, the apostle Paul of Tarsus reminded us: “Charity is love in action. Serving is a way of loving”. With the aid of functional MRI and other non-invasive technologies, modern medicine has unveiled how the genuine act of solidarity, charity and giving to others helps to overcome stress, depression, anxiety, fear, etc., so prevalent presently in our society.
