Oct 10 – Francisco I. Madero: “Lessons from the Life of a Spiritist Revolutionary”

Francisco I. Madero was the son of one of the wealthiest families in Mexico at the end of 19th Century. His father sent him to study in Paris and he came back a medium. In this talk, Adrian will analyze Mr. Madero’s life and his mediumistic letters, asking the question, can Spiritism and social change ever align? How can Spiritism guide our political activism? Join us!

Oct 24 – Sleep and Dreams: The Spiritist View

During sleep, the physical body rests but the spirit emancipates at various levels, staying connected to the body through the perispirit silver cord. Dreams are some recollections of the experiences undergone by the spirit during sleep. More spiritually we live and intelligently we prepare ourselves to sleep, we emancipate in conditions to experience higher levels of learning and heart filling encounters. The opposite is also true. Jussara Korngold is currently the General Secretary of the International Spiritist Council, the President of the United States Spiritist Federation and Executive Director of the Tristate Spiritist Federation. She is the founder and president of the Spiritist Group of New York and the Spiritist Alliance for Books Mrs. Korngold is fluent in Portuguese, English, French and Spanish. She is a published author, and a translator. With a bachelor’s in Economics, and pos-graduation in Finances Mrs. Korngold works for Brazil Child Health as its main executive. She is also an Executive Board Member of the Grupo Mulheres do Brasil in NY.
Adrian Alvarez is a fourth generation Spiritist from El Paso, Texas. He’s been a member of the Allan Kardec Spiritist Society of Maryland since 2013, where he serves on the board of directors, teaches a group of teens, and helps to coordinate the Society’s English-language programming. Adrian lives in Washington, D.C. and works as an attorney and law professor. Before attending law school, he obtained a BA in Latin American Studies and a Master in Public Affairs.
